Budget Analyst

Position Summary
Under general supervision, primary responsibilities developing the University budgets, completing the report of actuals, and preparing analytical budget reports. Also, additional responsibilities will be monitoring, reporting, and billing for University capital outlay projects.
Requirements:Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform analyses functions, such as budget accounting, budget preparation or similar fiscal procedures for legislative and operating budgets
Provide direction and counsel to University staff personnel in understanding financial reports and data, in controlling their costs and budgets, and in fulfilling budgetary requirements
Ensure that work assignments are completed timely and accurately
Perform general accounting duties, including review of budgets, file maintenance, approval of transfers, or other related duties
Analyze proposed and final legislation funding
Reconcile budgeted and actual revenues/expenditures and reconcile liability accounts
Review departmental budgets and verify availability of funding
Prepare budget/expenditure analysis and fiscal reports as required
Complete year-end budgeting tasks
Perform related duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration or CIS with an emphasis in accounting and a minimum of four years of experience in the duties specified is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of accounting principles, methods and application
Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations, and university financial policies and procedures
Advance Skills in account balancing and reconciling
Advance Skills with Microsoft Excel functions and formulas.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability of analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports
Ability to complete moderately complex assignments
Working Conditions:Physical Demand and Working Conditions:
Work is performed during normal work hours with some evening and weekend hours required to meet deadlines.
Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
