Recycling Collector/Groundskeeper

Position Summary
Under immediate supervision and direction, collect and maintain recycle materials for the University.
Requirements:Duties and Responsibilities:
Collect and move reusable items or waste materials, such as paper, cardboard, fibers, containers, and other waste items
Inspect materials and sort into piles or place in bins or waste containers according to size, conditions, or other characteristics
Move recycling materials from department to storage unit
Separate, classify and load materials onto vehicle
Perform the baling of recyclable material
Assist with Grounds Maintenance
Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
High school diploma or an equivalent certificate required and a minimum of six months experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Must have or obtain a New Mexico Waste and Recycle Certificate within 6 months of employment.
A valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment is also required, as well as the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and road conditions
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance
Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
Knowledge of disposal of hazardous materials
Knowledge of recycling policies and procedures
Working Conditions:Physical Demand and Working Conditions:
Work is performed both inside and outside involving extremes of hot and cold temperatures
Work is medium in nature that at times requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
